| I'm trying to order my front stabilizer bar bushing/ mounts but I don't know the size of the bar. I'm thinking it's 11/16s or 3/4. Can anyone take a 3/4 and an 11/16 open end wrench and see which diameter that bar is? Thanks | |

| Anyone have pics of how the fucker mounts? I feel retarded but I can't get it mounted.
I'm kind of worried I got my lower control arms backwards or something

| I remember that I had to take a bunch of other shit off before it would come out. So, in reverse, it's one of the first suspensions pieces that you'd want to put on. I'll check my restoration folder at home and see if I was smart enough to take pics before I tore the whole suspension out. | |

| Robert.....What exactly is giving you the problem? With your car on the ground, the ends of the bar should be parallel to the lower control arm and about 2" above the mounting hole. If your car isn't on the ground, your control arms are hanging down and probably making it hard to align everything. Let us know what's not lining up......John | |

| Ah, the car is up in the air because I just did the brake lines and posi install.
I'll lower it and try again.
I can't remember exacly what the deal was but I hooked up one side to the end links and then the other side was nowhere near fitting. I remembered a while back I tried a Buick sway bar but it was too big and I thought that might be the problem but I compared it to my rotted original bar (which was 5/8" not 3/4 like the other one) and they were identical.
Does anyone else have a 5/8 stabilizer bar on their car? Maybe it was an early production thing

| Robert.....First, while your car is still up on stands, put your lower control arms on the correct side. Those bump tabs need to be to the rear, otherwise your tires will rub against the wheelwells or frame, and you might have some binding in the steering gear. Are you sure you have the right stabilizer bar? there were two bars used in 1959. One was 5/8" (10/16") and the other was 11/16." The only 3/4" (12/16") was for 1960 "Police and heavy duty chassis" only. This 1960 bar might not be the same shape. I don't know for sure......John | |

| I'm not positive the bar is correct but it is identical to my 5/8 bar except this one is fatter. I may be mistaken on the 3/4. I'll take some pictures of the 2 side by side and post them. Thanks for your help
I did look at the bar on my buick and it is completely different so I know this is not the Buick bar that I thought it might be. I think I bought this bar off a pontiac forum and it might be from a 60 which I bought a lot of parts off of. It was a 2 door 3 speed car if it is the car Im thinking of. Or maybe it was a 59 3 speed car, I don't remember
