Fenderwell Exit Headers Empty
PostSubject: Fenderwell Exit Headers   Fenderwell Exit Headers EmptyThu Nov 20, 2008 12:17 am

Today I started to work on the bellhousing/pressure plate and I said "fuck it, I'm gunna start on my fenderwell exit headers." I didn't get very far. I chopped up my Hedman 4 tubes and started trying to figure out where the pieces are going to go. I'll have to cut some of the inner fender out but who cares???

Coming along. I'm curious how they will look completed and how they'll sound. Fenderwell Exit Headers 770732

me too, I bet they'll be prettyy ridiculous.

The collector is pretty much hidden so ill definitely have more ground clearance.

Just came over from Pontiac Zone. Looked at a nice '60 Starchief 2dr sport sedan. I like what you're doing with the headers. What header did you start with and will you have any provisions for a support bracket off of the engine to prevent stress cracking? Good job so far. By the way. Thanks for the excluxive Pontiac-.59 (or for me-carry over to a 60) board. Great idea and job. Mark L

1960 is pretty much the same, lots of parts are interchangeable and I love the 1960s and the 1959s are pretty rare so I welcome any '60 owners as well.

The headers I started with are Hedman headers for a Firebird I think. The headers I have on it right now are for a '64-??? GTO made by Summit. I cut the collector short and made 2 45 bends to go under the frame. It'll do for now but I know the first speed bump I hit is going to rip those headers off! haha

I don't think I'm going to make any sort of bracket but I will put a hanger where the collector is. I couldn't think of a bracket that I could make that would hold the headers up but still let the motor twist from all the torque. I think a hanger will be just fine since they're not really any longer than stock headers, they're just wider.

I think I have an inner liner problem with my welder (even though it's only 9 months old) so I haven't made any progress. I have all the pieces for the drivers side so I just need to weld it up.
