| [quote="Catalina Vista"]Man im so unskilled for putting pictures in net. Ill try.... Ivbeen polishing all the pitted shiny parts.those anodized aluminum pieces are pita to work.
CV - there is a Polymer solution I've seen that treats the pores of anodised trim, instantly removes the "milky/cloudy" look and restores original finish - have you seen it ?

Have read that Pontiac had warranty issues with gusher heads, pipes becoming clogged and exhaust valves failing, which is why they stopped using them. Maybe that's why mine were robbed ?
Good to see enthuasts here from Finland, France, Denmark .. any of you guys able to comment on alternative year heads that will work ? Look here: http://www.wallaceracing.com/interchange.htmhttp://www.crankshaftcoalition.com/wiki/Pontiac_V8_engine

| Bonsoir 59SC,
Thanks for the links - have not come across these sites before.
I would like to hear and see more of your 59 SC ?
Wallace racing: How do I read the interchangeabilty for heads ? Does it mean that 55-60 heads can be interchanged between the same year of blocks ?
I think the 59 head casting is 531395.

I think the 59 head casting is 531395. It is possible to adapt heads from 1961, 62, 63. You need to change the timing cover and water pump For my Bonneville you can register here. To view the topic. http://www.dreams-cars.org/forum/topic/17285-pontiac-bonneville-coup%C3%A9-sport-1959/

| Hi JP,
Thanks so much for posting the link - this is really good information, as your restoration is much more advanced than mine.
Your work is very high calibre, very precise & clean.
Also interesting to see the way you made the wheeltub braces, as these are the next phase for me and are complicated pieces.
I see you have added extra braces for the trunk floor, which run parallel to the trunk drop offs _ i assume you wanted to increase strength in these areas ?

| No, I only duplicated the reinforcements that were already on my car.
I just increased the thickness of the metal.

| ....this is very interesting, my Bonneville did not have these extra side braces on the trunk floor ??? Do you have any photos of this trunk area before you started repairs ? EDIT I just found this photo on your other forum. I think this is a photo of another car, where you are showing which parts are OK or rotted on your car ? .... so the trunk side braces were rotted out on your car (Disparu?), is this correct ?? If so, then mine had also completely disappeared, but I did not know it so your information has been very valuable This means I have some more braces to make ! | |

| Superb ! This is so helpful.
I had no idea these side braces existed !
Can you explain the relationship between the side brace and the a) rear trunk brace b) wheel tub brace c) trunk drop off ? (how do the side braces connect with these other 3x pieces ?)
In the video I see;
(7:15) - the outer end of the wheel tub brace sits on top the front end of the side brace
(7:16) - the outer flange of the side brace only touches the side of the trunk drop off (?) - is then any welded connection between these 2x pieces along the length of the side brace?
(7:17) - It looks like the rear of the side brace is welded to the end of the rear brace with a 45 Deg. lap joint ?
Thank you for your help with this JMP
Have you already made these connections

| Look at this link. https://1drv.ms/f/s!AgeN1Cic9-1NzUSrUBL4v6dIifEhThe front connection is very close to the original. But the back connection I built it to my idea. Because I did not have an example. I think catalinas are different from Bonneville. The remains were upright on my Bonneville. While on the pictures of the catalina have them see S-shaped, at the rear connection. | |

| This is just perfect - I can see all the details now - Thank you so much
I will now have to make the " Longerons" and maybe adjust their rear ends to suit my rear brace also. I have yet to make the curved wheeltub braces,
Your work is so clean and precise - Bravo ! You are very much a perfectionist, it would be great to work alongside you. I will be using your forum restoration topics as reference material - it is so good, you should write a body restoration manual for the 59.
Can you please advise - what is the Green colour to your metalwork - is it the Phosphating P99 you refer to in the other forum ? If so, what is P99 - can you send me link to the product ?
I use POR15 Metal Prep (Prep & Ready), which I assume is a similar conversion coating to your P99 to protect the bare steel from rust ?? The Green colour you have looks like something used in the Aviation Industry maybe ?
PS: is there any connection between the longeron and the trunk drop off ? (All I see is seam sealer I think)
PPS: what is the blue sealant you use - before welding (??)
Sorry....so many questions for you

| JP - can you please tell me the connection relationship between the rear valance and the trunk floor pan ? I am looking at page 35 of your Dream Cars topic, your post of March 11th 2017, where you are making new sides for the trunk floor pan. I can see where you have removed the rear trunk brace, as it has left a rusty area. It looks as if the rear valance and trunk floor are a single piece from the factory - can you confirm ? The lower part of my rear valance, and the rear of the trunk floor were completely missing on my car, so I have no reference. Here is a photo of what is left of my rear valance (I think you call it the rear skirt) I am not sure if the factory valance and trunk floor were a single piece, or two separate pieces ? Can you advise please? | |
