Speedometer Empty
PostSubject: Speedometer   Speedometer EmptyFri Feb 28, 2014 4:03 pm

So, one morning my cata´s speedometer went grazy.
Needle take two full turns and hole speedometer got really loud noise.
Needle returns to 40mph and noise continue...
I take cable out and drive.
This afternoon i disassembly hole dashboard and take the speedo on desk...
Something inside is loose.
No big thing to fix, for me, but first thing to get the hole thing apart is getting needle out.
Well, it dont want to get loose.
So it come to my mind that someone of you might done this job earlier and know how it should be done.
So if you know, tell me.
Thanks

Catalina Vista.....I've never taken the speedometer apart on a 1959. If the needle comes off like on my 1967 Firebird, you hold the shaft with a pair of needle nose pliers and carefully unscrew the needle counter clock wise. Many speedometers are put together this way. Just not 100% positive of ours. Let us know if that works......John

Thank you very much.
Problem was that needle axle was rip apart with copper drum. They where soldered together.
Small gas torch and tip off new lead fix hole thing.
