| I have just purchased a fine, original 1959 Star Chief Vista, and the water pump is leaking. I have an extra core for the water pump.
Who is my best source for a rebuilt water pump, or who can rebuild my core?
Thanks for your help. | |

| Centurion….. your local NAPA store may have one in stock, or can get one in a day or two. Usually parts stores get them from Cardone, a national rebuilder. The same 4 bolt pump was used through 1964. There are three types of rebuilt pumps available, based on the impeller used. What now seems to be the most common, had a one piece stamped steel hub and blades. These work in many installations, but may be a problem in some cooling situations. The other two have a one piece cast hub and blades. They are differentiated by the length of the cast blades. Some have blades that curve out from the center about half the radius of the hub. Aviod these, as they were meant for the 4 cylinder Tempest, and don't displace enough coolant. The best pumps are the cast hubs with cast blades that extend the full radius of the hub……John | |

| Thanks, catbird!
NAPA was my first stop, and I have the type with the cast impellers on the way from the warehouse in Denver.
I hope to post photos today of my new Star Chief, just brought home last night. | |
