4 speed...not meant for '59 Pontiacs

I'm starting to get pissed off at my car. I don't even like it anymore..I just want it finished.

So I needed to swap the bellhousings because the GMC housing does not have holes for the clutch linkage to bolt to. I don't have a lift so I knew it was going to suck. IT SUCKED! So I swapped them out, put the flywheel back in now the stupid damn pressure plate does not want to fit. It appears to be too big. So I got pissed off and gave up for now.

So...4 speeds were not meant for '59 Pontiacs. And headers were not meant for '59 Pontiacs. I guess I'm not meant for a '59 Pontiac.

I'll figure it out.

Keep trying Robert. I've come to learn that patience is the number 1 thing to have with these cars. Since they're ponchos to begin with and have the "first generation" 389 they're very difficult to work on at times. Lots of custom work to do ANYTHING.

When I put the 350 transmission behind the engine I didn't realize it would cost me $500 for an adapter plate and I would have to make custom linkage for everything. Just takes some extra time and a LOT of patience.

You'll get it on the road, it'll just take some more persuasion.

Yup, first time you pull out on the road and go thru the gears (and nothing breaks heh) you'll put all that crap behind you. Time heals all wounds. mark L

Yeah I know it's worth it. I can't stand automatics. And a 4 speed Muncie in a '59 Pontiac? Come on, how cool is that?
