Damn that sucks. At least you have a lot of different cars to find roofs off of. At least it's not like a one year one model only roof or something

i know its annoying. I'm either going to find another 59 GM 4dht to cut like the lip off of with that whole inner beam or just have my fabricator buddy do it so i don't break down and cry haha. the latter is most likely

it might not be that hard to make. The piece is almost completely flat

well problem is, the lip edge that holds the window seal is gone. i don't know what it looks like... i'm going to take the front and back windows out this weekend if i have my way and we'll see

While were on the topic of rust and 59 pontiacs, a general question: I'm currently beginning the negotiations on a 59 safari in Missisippi-to be dragged up to B.C.-probably buying it solely basedon pictures, which look pretty good. Are there any typical "spots" I should be asking the owner to check for me. He's sent me a lower rear drivers sidewheelwell and spare tire well-they both look fine-any other spots before I make too big a mistake?

i'd say your usual is what you worry about.. i'm not as familiar with wagon bodies rust areas, just look for floor pans and trunk floor and the back edge of the front fenders as they meet the doors down low there will generally be rust issues. look on the back corners of the roof inside the car as well. and when you take the front fenders off, the firewall area around the sides might be gross to cause thats where the water drains down from the vent under the windshield wipers. its pretty much the average old rust story as far as i know

Well Im committed now-just bought the thing over the weekend so rust or no rust here we go...
I'm sure in the months ahead I'll have many questions.
