PostSubject: catalina from kerrville   catalina from kerrville EmptyFri May 30, 2008 4:52 pm

My catalina was imported last year from Kerrville Texas to Denmark. It was in nice condition when it arrived, and still has the original color, metallic green with a white vista roof (painted once).

Everything is fairly original, and it handles perfectly even at high speeds - very unlike other cars of this age that i have tryed.
So far i just added a set of whitewalls, so i would say it was pretty well cared for when i got it.
Engine is a 2brl, and it has the hydramatic trans - also in perfect working order.

Everybody here seems to like the design, and as far as i know it is the only 59 pontiac in Denmark at the moment - im very satisfied, and would not trade it for anything...

Holy Cow Manure! A friend of mine in San Antonio was parked next to your car at a car show. I'm very glad you have joined our site. Our member "Madeleine" can tell you more about your car. He is the one that was parked next to it. Hopefully Madeleine can post pictures of your car.

Greetings P-59ers ~ Your webmaster is a very good friend of mine. Wink The carshow was located in Selma, TX. I was parked catty-corner to this fine Pontiac. I was very interested in it's original condition. So much so that I wanted to arrange a way to acquire her on the spot. The owner was willing to do whatever it took. Madeleine, my 1959 Buick, was the only bargaining tool I had & I was not about to let one gem go at the expense of another. Needless to say, this is why the Catalina is now a resident of Denmark. A fine classic indeed. I believe the owner put a tach in it. It was the only thing NOT stock on the vehicle at the time.

As mentioned, I have four such pictures of the Catalina. I see there is no gallery presently but, I will attempt to place them in this post. Stay tuned...

This view shows the Catalina in the very lower left hand corner of the picture. Madeleine is in the upper right portion.

Looks like I'll need to devote more time into how to post a photo to this website. Rob...??? No Rolling Eyes

Is this a cool coincidence or what ?. I got the original papers on the car, but i had to turn them in to have my danish papers - i made a copy before doing so, and i spend a little while trying to find the privious owner on the net. No luck that way.
I do a search on google once in a while to check for new 59 pontiac stuff, and found this new site - needless to say i joined imidiatly.

I ordered the car around christmas time 06, and there was a blizzard outside - it arrived in the spring last year. While waiting i ordered all the parts that i thought i would need to get it on the road, but most of it was not needed, and is now stored. Even the oil was fairly new !. I fired it up, and drove it out of the container and straight to inspection for registration.

There is no tach in the car, but an oilpressure meter and a ampmeter seems to be added - neatly done in old style, as it would properbly have been done when the car was new. The original radio was in the trunk, along with several prizes from various carshows. The only other non stock things that i have found are a new retro radio with CD box (died on the atlantic), and it has been converted to double exaust pipes.

Just days after having the car registred our 'whife car' was stolen, and my wife drove the car for over a month without a single complaint - and the kids loved being delivered to the daycare in style Cool .

We dorve the car to car shows, and even on our holidaĆ½ last year pulling the caravan. This year it is going on a trip to the former east germany - also camping trip.

Naturally any information on the cars past is always supercool - afterall that is a big part of having a historic car.

The pontiac engineers must be credited for building a car that still works and drives so well you could drive it to work every day (if the gas was not 10$/gallon here :| ), even after close to 50 years, and i am still impressed every time i drive it.

I'll be checking in on this page as aften as possible, and looking forward to sharing more great stories Very Happy .

Oh, by the way, here is a link to the firm that imported my car - he has a client letters section, which includes picture of the car and me. The pictures were taken on the harbour of ƅrhus just after pulling the car from the container that it was sharing with 2 camaro convertibles, a GTO convertible (clone i think), and a chopper. It was a tight fit !.

Christian ~ My memory only recalled a guage that wasn't original. I thought a tachometer would've been a bit odd for the car but, couldn't recall the proper name for it. Thanx for clearing that up.

Shocked Shocked Shocked Shocked Shocked OMG!!! Folks in the US have absolutely nothing to complain about in comparison! It's good to know your wife & children love this classic as well. Pity about her other car, eh?! Sad

Great looking Cat! I thought about switching the color on mine to the metallic green but changed my mind and will be keeping the sunset glow.

Madeleine's photos will not display in this topic unless the viewer is logged in to the photo gallery at buick-59.com. It will be necessary to post the photos on a hosting site that does not require registration in order for everyone to see them.

I remember the photos of this car -- and it is indeed a beautiful '59 Vista!

Fantastic - there it is (or was) - and surrounded with lots of other goodies Smile. Thanks alot for showing me - i wonder if you remember the salesprice ?.

I had a little trouble with the forum - i wrote 2 replies yesterday, that did not get through. Somehow the pictures suddenly displayed when i made the 'test' reply - but it seems to be OK now !

I am at work now, but will be back tonight.

If I remember right Patrick said the guy wanted $4,500? We saw it for sale about a year later for what I remember at about $8,000. I don't remember the exact prices though.

Here are a few pictures of my car !

A few pictures from summer holiday 07, Copenhagen, DK

https://i.servimg.com/u/f48/12/48/17/28/p1010011.jpg in front of Tivoli, Copenhagen.
https://i.servimg.com/u/f48/12/48/17/28/p1010012.jpg in front of B&W engine museum. Inside the building are a large dieselengine from the 30'ties , for many years the largest in the world, connected to a 15 MW generator.
https://i.servimg.com/u/f48/12/48/17/28/p1010013.jpg at the camp site. Note the old french citroen van in the background - all the way from france with a tiny 2 cyl air cooled engine - a nice contrast to my 389.

Picture taken after a wedding.

A few pictures from Texas, when the car was for sale.

Nice pics! MY wifey was actually telling me we have no good pics of my car over Christmas. She wanted to have a shirt made for me with a pic of my car on it. Guess we'll have to take a few this summer.
