It was a month of little sleep in August to get the car finished in time
for Drag Week. Thanks to friends and family we got it finished in time.
The hard work paid off, we won the "Daily Driver" class and for the 2nd
year in a row won the fastest average in "Daily Driver".
In the "Daily Driver" class you are only allowed to turn in et slips of
10.80 or slower. At Tulsa we had to detune the car quite a bit to slow it
down. For those that do not know what Drag Week is, it is a competition
put on by Hot Rod Magazine. You race at 5 dragstrips in 5 days and must
drive the car you are racing between each track without being trailered
or having a pit crew follow. This year the route was almost 1300 miles, and
went from Topeka Ks to Great Bend Ks. to Amarillo Tx to Tulsa Ok and back
to Topeka. There is some footage of the old rusty car on youtube ( drag week amarillo part 4) and some pics on Hot Rod, 1320video, and bangshift web sites. It's good to be home, but I'm already thinking it will go into the
9's with a 200 or 250 shot. I'll let you know if it does.
