Rear wheel studs Empty
PostSubject: Rear wheel studs   Rear wheel studs EmptyThu Oct 28, 2010 3:25 pm

While rebuilding my rear end, I decided to knock out the left handed studs and replace them with rights. After 3 tries based on what the books say are the correct studs, I cannot find any with the correct knurl size. Anybody else know the right part # or knurl size ?
Mark

markymark.....Had a stud that was crossthreaded. Found a vendor at Carlile that had left hand studs and nuts. I bought five but only used three. I'll go measure them tomorrow, and let you know. Most good parts suppliers should have the correct size. Around here "Pep Boys" has several drawers with various sizes. AutoZone, Advanced, O'Rileys, etc should cary them once you know the size......John

thanks catbird-I'm switching over to right as Im installing the scarebird front disc setup which means both fronts will be (are) right-no sense having only one wheel with left studs. Anyway, the parts guys are starting to roll their eyes now when they see me coming-as usual I'm looking for some obselete part-I did happen to pour through a stud catalog at my supplier today-studs will be in tomorrow am so hopefully 4th times a charm!
By the way, the scarebird disc system so far is going together almost flawlessly-front end is almost entirely new and should be off the stands by Monday-lots of fun!

markymark.....The studs are 1/2-20, 1.5" overall including the head. The knurled collar is 0.625" (5/8") in diameter, and the shaft under the head is 1.325". Hope this helps.....John
