| My '59 Star Chief 389 2bbl oil pan is leaking from some minor holes but is also seeping oil thru the metal. Is that a fix for this or a place to get a replacement oil pan? | |

| Got any pics? It shouldn't be seeping through metal.
If you have some small holes I would take the pan off and just mig weld the holes and grind it smooth again. I'm not sure which year oil pans inter change but probably 55-60.

| I took the pan to a local machine shop and he says if he tries to braise or weld it it may make it worse. He pointed out some very tiny blemishes that look like pin holes. I have pictures but cant seem to upload them. What's the trick to that? The images show the holes that someone had already patched with some type of resin. The dark areas are where he said it seems to be seeping oil thru to the outside. I believe you may be correct on other years that may fit. Thanks for your input. | |

| Your best bet is to replace the pan. Not sure which pans all would interchange but for sure 59-60 are the same. | |

| I agree. Keep an eye open on ebay. They show up from time to time. | |

| wydtrac......The bad news is that the oil pan is 1959-60 specific! There are three part numbers that I found; 55-58, 59-60, and 61-63. The good news is that there is a guy in Gaston, Indiana who is constantly parting out big cars, especially Pontiacs. He sells on E-Bay all the time. Try to get in touch with him at 66gtd@comcast.net. Hope this helps.....John | |

| I'm sure Steve has plenty to sell. He usually wants a lot for his parts though. One time he told me it takes too long to search for a rust free part. So if I need a part I'll get the first one he comes too because he doesn't want to spend hours looking for a good part on multiple cars. that's when I stopped tryin to buy from him. He seems like a nice guy though. Maybe I caught him on a bad day.
But damn he has a lot of good parts cars and some good builders! I wish I could make a living picking up parts cars and sellin parts.

| I contacted Steve about the oil pan and you are right, he has a lot of good parts. He had the oil pan and has shipped it to me. His price was only $50 which I thought was terrific! And when he sent me a picture of it, I thought it was even more terrific. It looks excellent! I should have it soon. He is a little slow to reply and ship things but I am hoping it is worth the wait. Now if I can just get the motor mounts I bought off e-bay I can get this girl back together and start on the body mounts. The host an image is not working again tonight or I would attach a picture of the new pan. It still has the blue paint on most of it and not dents. Thanks for all the help and input from all of you. It really helps. | |

| I bought new motor mounts from NAPA for $10 each. I've been pretty lucky with them. After I couldn't find shocks I went to the little podunk napa by my parents house. They had a set of rear shocks IN STOCK!!!! like $15 each. | |

| I went to NAPA first and they said they only listed the left side motor mount. Nothing for the right side. At the time I did not have mine out so didnt realize they are the same on both sides. So, I bought two off ebay for $24. They look the same as the originals to me. | |

| That's not too bad then. Yeah they are both the same.
I've seen a lot of people selling part for pontiacs that you can buy at an auto parts store for much cheaper. I think a lot of people just don't think that auto parts stores still have old parts like that. I did have a hard time finding intake gaskets though.

| I have checked first with NAPA and when they didnt have a listing for a part I went to Ames, then to ebay. I havn't had much luck with anyone for the front hood bumpers on this car. Ames has sent me the wrong ones twice now. Does anyone have the correct part numbers for these? The ones on it in the front now are 1 1/8" diameter and 3.8" thick. THe back ones are much smaller so I am not sure the front ones are the correct ones. I am missing one of the rubbers. The studs seem to be fine but would replace both if I could find a set. The ones that Ames has sent are both smaller like the back ones. | |

| I'll have to look at mine. I know I have the back ones in. I found another set which I assumed were the front ones. Where do they go? | |

| Here is a picture of where they go, just inside the front fenders on top of the grille mounts. The horns may give you a reference point. Hope this helps some. | |

| Can't be original paint, the color is way off from Pontiac Blue. Looks like Ford Blue.
Looks to be in great shape though! Congrats!
