Yes, for tomorrow still a lot of finishing work. But well done for this new step.
At this rate this Pontiac will roll before mine.

I had to fix some welding spots and lines that were still bad looking after the sheetmetal guy sent the body back ...

I understand, the bodybuilder has been a bit wild. To align each sheet, it took me a long time.
You're going to have a lot of work to make this pretty.
Courage Vittorio.

Thanks ... the sheetmetal guy has already come to see the messed up parts.... I'm putting all the body parts togheter so he can came back and fix them. I'll install doors, fenders and hood and try to align all body panels... I'm quite satisfied with the pass.side door and fender....

I love seeing pictures of the progress that you are making on your car. Â Please keep it up!
A couple of pics of the exhaust system I just got from the US...it has been surface shipped because of the size and it took a few months. Time to restore the passenger side hangers and fabricate the driver side ones (my car wasn't originally dual exhaust equipped...)

I did not notice any difference when I unboxed them...but looking at my own pics I would say you are right... Did you already get your ones? Next weekend I'll check carefully both tailpipes... I guess the driver side one might have a "dimple" for wagons' gas tank application. In this case your longer wheelbase exhaust shouldn't have it...

Yes I received them. They are identical to yours. This is the reason for my question.
The old ones who were on the car also have the same difference. Yet nothing bothers this place !!!

I'm not now so sure my guess about the wagon tank application is correct... According to the following diagram, the wagons' exhaust was routed sidewise somewhere after the rear wheels. I have only tried to mock up the passenger side so far, so I cannot say anything about the driver's tailpipe reason for this difference. Anyway your set should be a few inches longer because of the longer Bonneville wheelbase and overall size: every pipe from the mufflers back is different

Yes mine are longer. But the dimple is there.
In the diagram, what is the difference between parts 20 and parts 21 ?

They have 2 different part numbers ... The rubber insulator of the front ones (close to the muffler) is made with 2 rubber "textile reinforced" strips .. The rubber insulator of both rear ones is made of plain rubber.. The steel part looks the same to me. I can take pics tomorrow

Yes thank you, I want the photos.
Right now I'm rebuilding mines. I saw that they were made with tires
Here is the pic... The one on the right (muffler's support) is made by 2 reinforced rubber strips The one on the left (center and rear support) is just plain rubber They both were fastened on the steel bracket by large rivets so probably original equipment...

Thanks for these informations.
I'm restoring mine right now. They did not have a rubber block alone. Certainly they have been replaced over time. It is curious to see that they used pieces of tire to make them. The metal brackets are now sandblasted, and will be zinc plated.
Bottom right is a cutting test in a Bridgestone blank.

If they were retained with rivets they should be original ... I see you probably have a spare bracket, only 3 per side are needed. How is it possible?
