| Oh shit ! An our ago i put my nose out a little to far at an intersection (T) , and my front was scraped by a Peugeot. I feel like an idiot ! Luck was on my side, and nobody was hurt. The other car had the entire side scraped, and is properbly beyond (economical) repair - i am just happy that i am insured, and my Pontiac should be covered as well. After all, the damage to the car is limited (pictures comming when i get myself together again ) - and the fenders was not hit. The front bumper is properbly beyond repair, but i think the rest can be salvaged. I desperatly need a fornt bumper and a hood emblem, since it was hit by the side mirror of the other car. Any help will be very much appreciated - i realize that these parts are hard to come by - but this should be the place to ask, i think.... | |

| Thanks for the tip.
I have seen his name before on this forum - now it's time to straighten the insurance issues out before i can do a whole lot, but i might as well start the search.
As you said - it could be a lot worse !
I'm sure this is going to work out one way or another.
This might be the time to have a complete respray, which has been on my wishlist for years.

| I found mine in Indianapontiac $ 170, the price of transportation via USPS cost 800 dollars in 2012. 22% of customs. And it must chromer anyway. Today I would choose transport by ship.
I need to check, I think I have a logo.

| I think that is not too bad - a friend og mine just had a bumper chromed, and it was about 2200 $ - so if my own bumber cant be straightened i thik that i can get the insurance to pay for this. Unfortunatly i can't buy until i know ehere i am standing with the insurance. I have to deliver the car to my mechanic on monday, and have the damage evaluated - i think that i will know pretty soon if i need to buy a new bumper. The emblem is damaged, and can't be repaired, so if yoy have one i will be happy to buy | |

| I bought the bumper from e-bay (thanks for the tip ), and i am working on a solution to get it home. Still on the wanted list : Anodized trim around grill and hood emblem. I know there was a set on ebay for a while, but it is gone now. | |

| Well - time for an update. A bumper has been ordered (complete, rechromed) form the guy hwo imported my car. I still have the bumper that i bought sitting in Oregon - i might ask the guy to relist it, as soon as i have confirmation that the other one is on the way. I got the car back from the shop, and everything has been nicely straightened - it looks fine, and the paintwork has been patched - i am going for a respray later, so i hope to save the money for the partial respray (hood and front) that the insurance is offering. I still need a set og trim around the grill and the emblem - though the old stuff is not that bad... With the car looking OK again, and after fixing a few other things, i went on a trip today, only to have my newly rebuild engine snap a connecting rod, punching a hole in the oil pan. This is properbly the end of this season of driving - i just hate it when a streak of bad luck strikes like this.... So, though this should properbly be in the 'engine section', any thoughts on what to do ? Should i get a set of reconditioned original rods of ebay ? - or replace with fordged (expensive) aftermarket rods ? I have searched the web, and found wildly differing opinions - though i am leaning towards original rods, since this is no racing engine, i just dont want to see this happen again. Apparently the rod has failed just above the bottom bearing cap, which is spinning frely on the cranck. No evidence of a seeized bearing or anything else - just snapped ???? | |

| Well, after extensive engine work, and at extreme expense , i am back up & running. . I ended up buying an old 60 engine, and used it as a donor for heads. After putting down alot of work & money into rebuilding my block, including sleeving a cracked cylinder, it turned out that one of the heads had a crack (i had them pressure tested). After having a 'specialist' trying to weld the crack it failed the pressure test again. I then got lucky on ebay, and bought a worn out 60 engine, that ended up donating the heads. It ran for a few hundred miles, but pulled 2 rocker studs (they were properbly loose when i got the donor engine). I ended up converting it to screw-in on those 2 studs, which turned out to be quite difficult too. I just changed the oil for the first time, and it looked OK, so i am optimistic . | |
