Movie Set Empty
PostSubject: Movie Set   Movie Set EmptyMon Jan 26, 2015 12:46 am

Recently I was an "extra" in a movie that was set in the sixties.  Well, actually they wanted my 59 so I guess I was an extra to an extra (my 59).  It was used in a parking lot scene as a backdrop to the main actors along with a scene where I dropped off my "movie daughter" in front of the high school.  It was a very interesting experience.  The movie is titled "Coming through the Rye" and is to be released this year.  It will be interesting to see if the 59 makes it to the final edit.

I will try to post some pix.  (It may take several attempts.)

PontiaCat59, what a thrill to have your 59 in a movie. Definitely the BEST period car in the picture. Hopefully your "movie daughter" matched your car. It will make the edit room. Great looking car. Thanks for the pictures. Jim

Thanks.  The action scenes were fun.  They provided me with a portable two-way radio in order to que me on arriving at the school at the exact moment that they wanted.  Because they did several takes, I thought I was screwing up until I realized they were doing different camera angles.  Now I understand why it takes so long to make a movie.  And BTW, my "movie daughter" was cute.

Congrats-what a thrill! How did this all come about for you and the Red Beauty? What year was the movie suppose to be?
I think its great you didn't have to turn over the keys to anyone else!

Finfan,
Last year I had the 59 at a large car show in Roanoke, VA and a guy (who I did not know) there asked if I'd consider having the car in a movie.  He explained that his business was to find and provide vehicles for movie makers.  After a lot of Q&A regarding who, what, when, where, liabilities, compensation and of course "who drives my car?", I told him I'd consider it.  The key being that I'd be driving my car and no one else.  He later called with an opportunity relatively close to where I live (Richmond, VA area.)

The movie is set in 1969.  Here is a link to a promo site:  http://comingthroughtheryemovie.com/

Funny though, even though I was in a car with no close ups on me, my clothing had to be period correct.  Heck, I'll be happy if the final cut shows the car from a distance! BTW, the compensation barely covered gas costs! I guess I need an agent! Hahaha
