| Subject: Drain hoses in trunk ? Wed Jul 09, 2008 11:27 am | |
| I had water in my trunk today after heavy rain, and i discovered 2 drainhoses in the inner corner´s of the trunk that drains water from the buttom of the rear window. These 2 rubberhoses are left open in the trunk, and this is how the water got in. I checked my bodymanual, but could not locate any info on how these hoses are suppose to exit the trunk. does anyone know where these are suppose to go | |

| I'll look more closely but I'm pretty sure our cars did not have any kind of drain hoses in the trunk. | |

| It could be unoriginal, but it look like it was there from the factory. There is a small rubber funnel, and as far as i can tell it is under the lower corners of the moulding under the rear window. The rubber looks a little old, which also sugests that it is an original feature. I guess it is supposed to drain water that gets under the moulding....but where to... | |

| I'll check mine. I've crawled in my trunk many times but never saw any hoses. | |

| 59Vista......those drain hoses belong there on all closed cars. There should also be one on each side of the windshield. The windshield ones run through a hole in the side of the cowl behind the front fender. The hole has a rubber gromet that the hose runs through. I forget where the rear ones run to. Look in the areas around the inner wheel well for a hole to feed the hose to the outside. If you can't find them, you can make your own with a small gromet that fits the hose. Hope this helps.....John | |

You too? It's roomy in there. I think if I installed plumbing I could move in. | |

| The hoses are correct and probably the original ones. The flat tops all had them. It was to funnel water that collected under the rear window molding and take it out. 1. Your drains are probably plugged so the rain water is over flowing 2. The hoses are deteriorated and letting the water flow into the trunk 3. They aren't going through the trunk pan along the inside of the wheel wells on the hump. | |

| I still need to crawl back in mine, I still haven't seen them. Maybe mine rotted away. Where are they supposed to be? | |

| 59flattop : Thanks, i found the holes now. Hoses are working fine, and considering the age they are in good condition, but someone pulled them out of the hole, and i could not find the original holes. We had plenty of heavy showers on our trip (the car is usually stored indoors, and not subjected to heavy rain), and the hoses poured some moderate amount of water into the trunk, so the are not clogged. | |
