Is it really a Superior? I though superior built different looking professional cars | |

| In 1959, it was really only Superior building cars on the Pontiac commercial chassis.
There were others, such as Memphian, National, and 1 or 2 others, but with the exception of National, they were based on the regular station wagon chassis.
That is a Superior Criterion.

| Comet was the one I was thinking of. Did they not do Pontiacs? I know they did Buicks in '59 | |

Comet and Flxible might have done a couple of Pontiacs each. But they were very likely based on regular station wagons and not the commercial chassis. Flxible was primarily Buicks only. Records weren't well kept in those companies, unfortunately.

| I know Flxible did 49 Buicks in '59 and 80 in 60. I forget how many Comet did and I don't think Superior did any buicks did they???? Armbruster I believe was the company that made this one | |

| I think the price might be okay if all the parts are there (and working)-its the bloody parts searching that can nickel and dime you to death | |

| Funny, I have to comment on the Ambulance...As morbid as it might seem..it's cool! I showed a picture of it to my In-Law's who have property in La Pine, Oregon. They remember seeing it sitting in a parking lot in town and always joked when they would drive by it, commenting that they would rather hitch a ride or drive themselves to the hospital in nearby Bend (30 min. drive) before riding in that thing. Apparently it sat in the parking lot of the small hospital in La Pine until it dissapeared one day. My F-I-L joked about the mileage being 46,000..with a Population of "only" 1000 people, they must have driven around "looking" for patients! Maybe the doctor was the Undertaker as well! You never know....... | |

| Back then, many of the funeral homes also ran the ambulance services. That's why there were combination cars, hearses that could be converted in to ambulances on a moment's notice. | |

| I know, it was meant to be more of a tongue-in-cheek joke since "Downtown" La Pine is so small and the main drag is so short, if you blink, you WILL miss it! "Town" consists of a Gas Staion and a grocery store and NAPA, if you want much more than that, you have to drive 30 miles to get it. Cool looking car though.... | |

| Prices seem spot on for both of these-they look like fairly well preserved units. Ebay is running a Bonneville wagon sitting at over 20,000 and still hasnt hit reserve! | |
