| So, does it have the air conditioned tailgate option? You know, so you don't get too hot while pushing it. That is a really nice looking truck, great color. | |

| I'd put a Cummins up against anything else on the road as far as reliablity. It's not uncommon for guys to completely wear out the truck at 500K and have the motor still running strong. I have a buddy running 12s in a 94 12 vavle with over 300K on it with the original/stock bottom end. That's impressive. You will not see that out of any other motor.
I'm loving this thing so far. The 6 speed is fun

| hehehehehe You know it. Although I know of plenty GM 6.5s with 800,000 to 1 million miles on them.
I've seen a few 1973-87 Chevies with a Cummins transplant lately.
I've been kind of looking for a decent 1973-87 GM shortbed 2wd. I want to put in a 350 TPI or possibly a 454...But an 8.1 isn't out of the question...
It would be my usual most customized stock 1973-87 GM truck on earth.

| But do you know of one single 6.5 that runs 12s!? hahaha
Diesels in general are good motors. This guy that comes into my work he's a diesel mechanic for the city of Austin. He has an early 90s Z71 that he swapped a 6.5 into. He said he wants to swap a cummins into it but they're too heavy haha
What's becoming really popular is the smaller Cummins 4BT swaps. Which is the mechanically pumped 4 cylinder cummins. Same exact design as the 6BT 12 valves, just 4 cylinders instead of 6. That would be great for a half ton truck. I thought about doing it in my 76 Power Wagon. But that big block runs well so it'll stay for now
When I went to the Texas Mile Race down in Berclair I saw a few newer Ford Duallys with Cummins transplants in them. I guess if you're rich enough to afford a $50,000 King Ranch Ford then you can afford to swap a 24 valve cummins into it. Then you'd really have the best of both worlds. Comfort of the king ranch and the power of the cummins

| there's a couple of 6.5s that run 12s and lower.
My brother has a Duramax and with a little tuning, it will run 13s.

| Duramaxes are bad mother fuckers once they figured out how to keep them from blowing up haha I'd say the playing field is fairly level as far as performance goes. As far as reliability, I'd say Cummins is still one step up.
And look at tractor pulls, 95% 12 valve cummins. Even in Ford and Chevys, most still run 12 valve cummins

Is that a close ratio box with overdrive or is it double overdrive?

| Yeah, close ratio. I start in second, shift to third at about 10 and on into 6th at about 40. 6th is only .79:1 and I'm running 31" tires with 3.73 gears. haha it sucks!
I'm getting 315/70s soon and hopefully switching to 3.42 gears soon
