| What a beaut. Love the lines of a hardtop from this era.
I'm jealous of your cheap gas prices too!

| Yeah, gas prices haven't been too bad. I just filled my truck up with 93 at $2.79 a gallon. The most I've ever paid was in cali 2 years ago, $4.25/ gallon. I think in 2004 when I started driving gas was $1.90??? | |

| Shit ! - I just returned from a 600 miles trip to germany - vacation with the 59. That was 4 tanks of 99 octane - 12 Dkr / litre. You can do the math (1 dollar is appx 6 Dkr at the moment), it's too depressing for me . Prices are about the same in germany for gas, however everything else is at least 30 % cheaper. This country has one of the highest taxes in the world - it's crap. By the way, the poncho did the trip without a single problem - 51 years old and still going strong. | |

Awesome! It's pretty amazing just how reliable these cars are even in their older years.

Definitely it needs the dog dish hubcaps! Love it..Great find..I'm (a little) jealous.....I hope you're going to leave just the way it is...

| It's getting dog dishes and a stick shift and that's about it. Well, I'm definitely going to soup it up but that's a ways down the road | |

Does this have a roto or super hydro auto transmission? I wouldn't change a thing on that car. Leave it alone and ENJOY!!!

| I agree that the car should be left intact. I have never been an advocate to hack or modify something unless it has been done previously. If the car has issues such a slipping automatic or it has been modified in such a way that it is irreversable and would make restoration next to impossible, then have at it. But when you find an example such as this '62 that is nearly 90% complete, why stir the pot? Installing a 4 speed just for the sake of having a manual car would be a mistake, in my opinion. What is wrong with leaving things alone and enjoying them as they were intended? Like the old saying goes; "If it ain't broke, don't fix it" certainly applies here. I think if you want a 4 speed car...sell this one and look for an original stick car and drive it, but please don't tear up an otherwise beautiful car because you prefer legs cramps over smooth driving. Just my two cents.........The car is a gem! | |

| Well, it's all about opinion. Leaving this POS automatic is a mistake in my opinion.
I wouldn't be hacking anything up. I would be making a mod to suit my needs and make the car better in every way. I'm not trying to win car shows for best original car or best restoration. I want to drive the thing how I want to drive it and this automatic is terrible

| Yes, the car is a gem. If this same exact car was an original 4 speed car the price would have been double what I paid for this one. Maybe even more | |

| Yeah, the rotos do suck. If it had the super hydro, I'd leave it be. Unfortunately, you would have to hack away at the trans tunnel to get a hydro in there, so a 4 speed manual conversion would probably be less intrusive. | |

| I'll actually probably go with a 5 speed so the tunnel will need to be cut. But so what? Under the carpet you'll never know, and above it will just look like a 4 speed | |
