To get this forum rolling I'll tell yall my story.
When I was a senior in high school (Class of 2005) I wanted an old car BAD but I had no money. For graduation I got enough money to buy a 1959 Buick Electra for $1,700. The guy I got it from told me there was one identical to it down the road. The seller was selling it real cheap and it had a cracked head. I drove over there and it turned out to be a 1959 Pontiac Star Chief 4 Door HT.
Fast forward about 6 months I was in that part of San Antonio so I stopped by to see if it was still there. I had forgotten how cool 1959 Pontiacs were! I called the seller and made a deal on spot for $1,000.
The car was built at the Arlington plant in Texas and sold new in San Antonio at Superior Pontiac and bought by the sellers grandpa in 1958.
I got it towed home and tore into it. It's been 2 and a half years now and the car is torn apart awaiting re-assembly. I decided to stray slightly from a correct restoration. The paint and seats will be redone original. It will wear the original spinner hubcaps. The motor is the original 389. It is completely rebuilt with many performance parts along with an Offenhauser dual quad intake. It should make over 400 hp and run at least low 14s in the 1/4. The motor is backed by a Muncie 4 speed and a NOS posi . My brother came up with "Silver Bullet" due to the color and how quick it should be.
I am hoping to complete it before the end of the year.
