| i just got my Pontiac about a week ago, and i've already gotten it running and everything i'm still tearing it down for resto though. i'm doing all original, even down to the color, which i believe used to be Sunset Glow Poly. Shes a 4 door Vista, 389 and a 2 speed, Hydra Matic i believe.. but i love it. i'll get pics posted soon | |

| Depends on what youre looking for but Ames and California Pontiac Restoration are pretty good. There's also Kanter which I've heard mixed things about but that's where I got my Suspension rebuild kit from and everything seems to work fine. | |

| Welcome abord !.
By the way the hydramatic is a four speed, so if you've got only two gears somthing has broken.. However the gear changes that involves the fluid clutch (i think it is 1>2 and 3>4) are very soft.

Welcome thechief. Nice Star Chief. 59vista, you're close. It's 1-3 and 2-4. The fluid coupling either went out or you've torn the fins on the torus itself. This was the problem I kept running into with mine. IT was the fluid coupling the 1st 3 times and the torus fins the 4th. That's why I pulled it. I think I just had some bad luck though. LOL...

| thechief, I'm so glad to learn that someone here in Washington state purchased this car. We had seen it listed on Ebay, and my good friend in Ohio e-mailed me every day hoping that the right buyer would step forward for this car! Sunset Glow with Cameo Ivory is a spectacular color combination for the '59 Star Chief Vista. I'm thrilled that you intend to restore this car to stock. Where in Washington are you located? I'm in Puyallup. I've put together an afternoon/evening tour this coming weekend for owners of the 1959 and 1960 General Motors cars, with particular interest in the 4-door Vistas! We get together once or twice every year for a driving event with the '59's. Last time we got together, we had a Cameo Ivory Bonneville Vista with Sunset Glow interior (from Tacoma)and a Sunset Glow / Cameo Ivory Bonneville Vista (from Victoria). We've also had a Seattle guy join us for some of our events with a Canyon Copper / Cameo Ivory Star Chief Vista. Our tour this time will begin in Puyallup, with stops in Auburn, Woodinville, and concluding at the Triple-X drive-in in Issaquah. I'm currently working to persuade a friend to pick up a Sunset Glow Bonneville Vista that is near Bremerton. By the way, my car's a '59 Buick flattop, but we're really interested in all the '59 GM 4-door hardtops. Please drop me an e-mail at brianL@americanconstco.com . From some of our past events here in the Puget Sound area: | |

| Centurion, Thats so exciting! i'll have to email you soon. Beautiful Buick by the way, the one in the first picture is yours? I would love to come this weekend but my car isnt drivable quiet yet.. lol still have to fix get the breaks fixed. i changed the front hoses and bled the whole system but something is still not right... so ya. i'm pretty excited though. i really plan on being mostly done with the car, at least having the body work done, by next summer. Let me know when you guys do another event i would love to come! I love the 59's. It has to be GM's best year.. the most radical and free running styling of all time i'll shoot ya an email soon. OH, btw i'm in Issaquah. So i know all about Triple X Root Beer i love that place! | |
