PostSubject: Help!!   Help!! EmptySun May 25, 2008 9:45 pm

Hello all. My parents have inherited a 1959 catalina and are wanting to restore it. If any of you have ANY advise please let me know. What I know about it is that it was my great great grandpas and one way or another dad says we are restoring it. It was sadly left in a pasture and for some reason a door left open. So as you can imagine rust and cracked windows. We do know it will be a frame up reconstruction. But parts and everything else how hard is it going to b to find all of this?? Is there a manual, parts book that can be ordered from?? Anything will be helpful. Thanks!

Just let us know when you get down to take it apart. I have some experience and I'm sure others have much more. Posy any specific questions and in the appropriate forums and I'll try my best to help you out.

Do you have any pictures? What body style is it?

It's goign to e a little more of a difficult project due to the '59 ponchos had a lot of new things going on in '59 to change their image. Many parts can be found from the following companiesto help you get started:

Ames Performance - Great company to deal with

Performance Years Poniac - Another great company

California Pontiac Restoration - Have not dealt with personally

These sites will get you started for restoration. Many parts will have to be found in salvage yards or by asking around to see who has what. If you're looking at modifications to do or retrofittings ask like starchief_59 said in the right areas and we'll help at least point you in the right direction.

Ames is a very good company. Other than that I get most of my parts from salvage yards and ebay

Pictures.... it'll be a bit on that one for we live a ways apart. but i will get some posted. But I was told that it has made the trip from the pasture to home ok so the next step I guess they said is to find the keys and the title. But Dad is excited!! Thanks so much again.

I've got various 59 Cat parts, including doors with glass. Let me know what you need, I'll sell at reasonable prices.
