A while back I tried to buy a '29 Dodge Sedan to build a traditional hot rod/ rat rod out of. The price was right but the problem was the guy lived in Devine, TX which is about 80-100 miles from where I live but I have a ranch In Pleasanton which is like 20-30 miles from Devine. So the guy said he could deliver it the next day but I need to seal the deal and give him some cash before he delivers it. OK no big deal, I don't really care what it looks like anyway. So the next few days it poured ass rain and he told me he got his truck stuck trying to pull it off his property but I paid him half the money anyway. He gave me his full name, address, and drivers license number. I thought I was safe. Weeks of excuses later I drove over to his house unannounced and guess what? THERE WAS NO 29 DODGE IN SIGHT! His truck was out front but he never came to the door. I called him and said "Fuck you man I want my money back" he said "I can't I'm at work" I said "I don't care I'll come pick it up. He said "Ok I'll meet you but I only have $300" So the guy met me and gave me the $300 and said he would give me the rest the next day. Never showed.
So lesson learned, don't buy anything until you already have it. Big mistake on my part.
But why did the guy scam me but give me all of his information? And why not try to get all the money upfront if your plan is to scam?
