Steering Column/Steering Column Coupling Empty
PostSubject: Steering Column/Steering Column Coupling   Steering Column/Steering Column Coupling EmptySun Jan 22, 2017 11:59 am

Trying to replace the Steering Shaft coupling/Rag Joint.
I must pull the steering column back to get it off the steering box spline.
Took the chrome bracket off that holds the steering column to the dash, it still wont move.
I'm I missing something here.

Thanks.

Hello!
I am reading my shop manual, and it says:

Remove steering Wheel.

Disconnect directional signal wiring harness and signal lever.

Remove steering column lower finish plate.

Roll back floor mat and remove steering felt and felt retainer plate.
Disconnect horn wire and neutralizer switch wire.

Remove gearshift levers.

Disconnect gearshift selector rods from steering column.

Remove splash apron.

Remove floor pan cover.

Remove turning signal wires.

Remove pitman shaft arm (if you are removing the steering gear)

Remove bolts holding steering column lower bracket to upper bracket on instrument panel.

Hope this will help you/Peter

Thanks Peter.
I got it installed, steering column was stuck to the bottom of the dash by a rubber piece, probably been there for about 58 years.
