PostSubject: Winter drivers?   Winter drivers? EmptyTue Jan 28, 2014 11:45 am

Or am i only one?
Summer is so short here in finland that i decide to drive all winter with my catalina.
A true daily driver...
Made some things to ease live..Install ebersbächer gasoline powered block heater.
1/2 hour every morning and shes all warm up to start a new journey to my working place.
It even starts one morning without heating and temp outside was -25celcius!
That was an emergency situation, no time to warm up.
what an engine.old 389 is in condition where it leaves pontiac plant 59!

I picked up the kids from school yesterday in the Vista but this is California!

Sounds like you have an adventure everyday. Have fun driving to work, I'm sure you'll look back at your commute and think what good memories.

Cheers.

Good for you Catalina Vista!  Having a convertible it was easy for me to rationalize that my driving fun would be somewhat pointless unless the top was down in warm sunshiny weather.  You have prompted me to rethink my position. (I have a really bad case of cabin fever!) Thanks!

-8 celcius today.Snowing little.Good winter tires with olds 15 inch rims makes cata very driveable.
Defroster works fine and she could be even warm car if she have more than a memory of weatherstrips. lol!

You know, cars like that they be driven.
My cats old hydramatic seems to work better every time she gets punished!
you know..2-3 shift and kick down...2-3 are harsh and 3-4 lazy.
No they get both acceptable as the miles go on.
Drive it like you stole it and repair if its broke.
Off course to me its easy to say as i am familiar with these old automatics and have knowledge to fix them.
Right now i´m struggle wiht 2 jets accelerator pump.
i e mailing to quadrajetparts.com so they could send me right pump parts by carbs number but they couldnt.
They said i should measure my old parts and order by them even i said that i doubt someone was mixing wrong parts in those.
I said those because my wifes ride 64 catalina have same combo in drivetrain and have same problems.
