Ok enough is enough. My Star Chief is just sitting there. It WILL be running and driving under it's own power by the end of summer.

About time Robert. I keep waiting to hear more on it, such as, taking it for a ride, trying out that power plant. 8^) Mark L

Robert. remember, I'm retired, I cheat, heh. Years ago time to work on the car was at a premium, with work and family being most important. So I might be pulling your chain a little but take your time and enjoy the journey. The end will be that much more sweet.

NOW GET TO WORK YOU SLACKER!!! Heh!!! Mark L

hahahah ok ok

My first trip out to the car in a while. I pop the hood "WTF" my offenhauser intake is cracked, I look around on the ground, all 4 freeze plugs popped out!!!!!!

It's Texas, I've only had water in that motor since I got it running in 2008 and it's never froze, WELL IT FROZE THIS WINTER!

So anyway, Always put coolant in your damn motor. I'm waiting on another intake and I'm going to try to find a new drivers fender and start doing body work. I need to hit it hard if I want to drive this by Aug. well I'm in Texas so my "summer" might be extended to sept or oct. haha

Also, somehow the bracket/tab on the back of my generator broke off???? How did that happen? It's like 1/4" cast iron????

Robert, you should check the block for cracks. Those plugs are just the holes that was used to get the casting core out, and they would not offer any signicant protection against block damage from freezing. I really don't like the broken generator mount - it could be a sign of somthing much worse, though i sure hope i am wrong affraid . There are many stories around here about car engines that got totaled due to freezing - especially back in the days when there was no expansion tank (like on our cars), and the cars would sometimes boil for one or another reason. Water was added, and over time the antifreeze got diluted. If all four plugs popped, and the block sustained no damage, then you are one lucky guy !. I sure hope you are !

Well I'd bet money those plugs will pop out before it cracks a thick ass 59 Pontiac block. We'll see how it goes.

Well I had a complete Fel Pro gasket set in my tool box but for some reason I only see one 55-60 intake gaskets but 2 61-64 gaskets...

I poured the old gas out of the rear carb and it was green and smelled god awful

Well the car is now at my house in San Marcos, the bad news is I took 12 hours of classes this summer and haven't touched it. I did get my single 4 barrel intake in the mail but I haven't got it back on. More bad news, I just moved into this house in may and I'm already having to move out into a new house. More bad news, AC has been out in my truck all summer so it's in the shop getting looked at. Good news, my 62 is still up and running great and I just put new dual exhaust and HO manifolds on it.

I'm off all day sunday, that intake is going on then!

I got her running!!!!

Now I need to pull the MC and see why the hell I don't have any brake pressure. I'm hoping to drive it down the street by the end of the month

cheers cheers cheers - Congratulations Exclamation . I sure was worried about that frozen colant. I have seen 2" ironpipes burst, even with the ends open (but with standing water inside). It all depends of the direction of the freezing.
That breakpressure sure is a lot cheaper to fix than a cracked block - as long as it does not happen at 100 mph lol! .

There's still a chance it's cracked. I haven't put new freeze plugs in it and filled it back up yet. Feels good to have it runnign again
