Hinge pillar weatherstrip location Empty
PostSubject: Hinge pillar weatherstrip location   Hinge pillar weatherstrip location EmptyThu Aug 21, 2014 10:10 pm

Can someone post a pic or email me one as to the location of these?
They were not on the Catalina before I started and they are not on my Vista either.
They are a suppose to be for the door hinge pillar?
Rubber, shape kind of like a J but with a straight hook if you will.

Any help appreciated.

Finfan.....I think you are describing the "J" door seal. If it is, it doesn't go on the hinge pillar, but rather the front of the door shell itself. Look at the upper part of the shell, opposite the hinge pillar, just below the vent window. You should see holes that correspond to the pins on the rubber seal. When installed the "J" will be upside-down......John

Thanks CATBIRD. I will take another look to see what the heck I missed!
Putting Tripower emblems on fenders today with your info in the Tips section, thanks again.

Well I am still not positive. The channels on these are so long cutting must be required. They run beyond the bottom of the door.
As far orientation CATBIRD, will the long part of the "J" run down along next to the door seal or do I have it reversed?

Thanks a ton.

Finfan.....sorry that my last post misled you. The "J" is not upside down, but it is backwards on the drivers side. The long part of the "J" starts just under the vent window next to where the door weatherstrip begins. It runs along the inner edge of the front of the door shell to just below the door dogleg. The shorter part of the "J" then runs toward the outer edge of the shell. and meets up with door weatherstrip, not quite halfway down the door. It would be a J on the passenger side, and backwards on the drivers side. As I mentioned, there should be prepunched holes in the shell that match the locator pins for the seal......John

Yep, I came to the conclusion they had to be right side up and know exactly-thanks! I did abandon the tri power emblem install however. Had the pattern all marked out on tape, etc and 2 different sets of emblems I bought are junk so I am going W/O.
