Thanks - that was most interesting - anyone know if i can switch to a set of newer heads - say 66 - to get the benefit of larger valves ?. At the very least it looks like i would need a new front cover and some water distribution pipes, but only 60 engines has been mentioned. Is this really a case of a simple swap, or is it one of those 'you can think about it, but don't do it' things Question ?

59Vista. You can swap out heads but like you said will need a new timing cover. You will also need to swap intake manifolds.

I've considered it but like the fact that I'm running an SD tri power and the reverse cooling is better in my opinion because the water runs from top down in the engine.

On the downside, parts aren't as easily found and not as many interchangeable performance modifications.

Thanks. A friend of mine has a set of newer heads and a manifold - however since my original engine is running fine for now, but it is nice to know that they can be used if i need them...
