Hey...

Anyone ever ripped their cracked-up crappy old dash pad off & left it that way?

A friend of mine did in his '59 Edsel because it was all melted & crappy, but the padded dash was an option in that car.

I'm thinking about trying it in my ponch... is that a bad idea?

How would it look?

So, I'm thinkin screw all this BS mechanical linkage. I'm going hydraulic. It looks so easy and it's a lot cheaper than what you can find a mechanical set up for.

All you need is a Wilwood master cylinder, slave cylinder, some brake lines and probably have to fab up a few brackets. I'll let yall know how it goes.

Well, I spent ALL DAY working on the driver's side yesterday. Start to finish maybe 10 hours total, some chit chat and some breaks in between but I finished the drivers side all in one day.

The bad....one of the tubes rubs!!!!! Looks like I'll have to modify it before I can put it on the road but it'll stay for now. turn all the way to the left and the tire catches one of the tubes. Oh well, I should have done one last test fit before i welded that one but you live and learn.

CHOPPED HARD TOP!

I've got to start with the story of my introduction to 59 Pontiacs. I was 16 years old and driving a 65 chrysler 300 four door hard top. I was the second owner, rolling on 63,000 original miles. I had spent all summer doing body work, primed the car in WHITE, and put large 60's style red scallops on it. The final touch was lowering the ass end, so I drove down to Baxter Auto parts in Portland Oregon to buy 3" lower blocks. I park, bought my parts and upon leaving the store I realised the ...

Custom air cleaners

I didn't want an air cleaner that you could buy at a store. I wanted something different. I thought about getting 2 big indian head logos water jetted out of aluminum to use at the air cleaner top. I ruled that out as being too costly. So I stood staring at my carbs sitting there and then it came to me...take a hubcap, cut it down to size and use that as the air cleaner top! I've never seen it done and it would be cool!

So I bought these off ebay. http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&sspagename=STRK%3AMEWAX%3AIT&viewitem=&item=250234973017

Ok, starchief1959 and I started a conversation about beefing up our '59s. He said he wants about 400 hp. Me too, I'd like to think that's about where I'm at.

This is what I said from our previous thread

"According to some guys on performance years, they think my motor is only about 300 hp. I think they're stoned and mistaken.

Hardly anything is stock, and the headers over stock manifolds has to be good for at least 25 hp alone, not to mention way better valvetrain, way better ...

Clutch linkage vs headers

Now I finally got around to sticking my clutch linkage under the car and seeing what's gunna work and what's not. Well the damn headers on it right now are in the way! Good thing I already started building those fenderwll exits! Now I can see there's no other way around the frame and clutch linkage and the starter. So all around, fenderwell exits are the only way to go.

Today I started to work on the bellhousing/pressure plate and I said "fuck it, I'm gunna start on my fenderwell exit headers." I didn't get very far. I chopped up my Hedman 4 tubes and started trying to figure out where the pieces are going to go. I'll have to cut some of the inner fender out but who cares???
