This is my first post. I've been waiting until I cleaned up "Ruthie" before composing my story and linking pictures. I inhereted the car after my Aunt Ruth past away earlier in the year. I'd always admired the car and shared her interest in maintaining our rides, so she willed it to me. My aunt was the original owner and she kept detailed records over the car's 50 years. Ruthie has 104,000 miles and the engine, transmission, and drive have never been touched. The car has zero ...

My '59 is actually my first car. Mom and Dad said I had $1,500 I could spend on a vehicle and this is what I chose!

1959 Pontiac Star Chief 4 door sedan.

2bbl carb and pretty "light" on the options.

This car was a barn find down in Iowa that I just had to have. At the time I had no clue what it was but it was so eye catching and I love pontiacs.

I have since cleaned up the engine and installed an original '59 tri power setup and have replaced the hydramatic transmission ...

Hey all,

So I bought a '59 Pontiac Strato Chief (Canadian model... I'm in Edmonton, Alberta) recently and was ushered here by a fellow '59 enthusiast.

It needs a big pile of love, but it was an offer I couldn't refuse... $800 for a 2-dr post, and I'm not sure if it's got a 235 or a 261 in it... (because I haven't even gotten it home yet and those 2 engines are pretty similar), but I do know that's it's got a 3-speed on the column it's that slick ice-blue color that turns to a boring ...

Here are a few photos of 59Canadianponcho's cruiser. Looks sweet! Honestly, I'd keep that 283. I wouldn't put a Chevy motor in anything but if my Pontiac came with a 283 I'd probably leave it. But a 421 dual quad Po0ntiac motor would be SICK also!

What color is the roof? Looks blue or green. Is that the original color?

I bought my 1959 Pontiac Star Chief at Kmart! Seriously I was driving through the Kmart parking lot and it was sitting with an old faded for sale sighn in the front seat. The auto shop next to Kmart worked on it and parked it in the parking lot next to them. I called the owner and he came down and we made the deal for $700.00 When he showed up he jumped in it and smoked the tires in the parking lot. I took her home and spent a whole day buffing the beautiful sunset glow paint. I went and ...

My catalina was imported last year from Kerrville Texas to Denmark. It was in nice condition when it arrived, and still has the original color, metallic green with a white vista roof (painted once).

Everything is fairly original, and it handles perfectly even at high speeds - very unlike other cars of this age that i have tryed.

So far i just added a set of whitewalls, so i would say it was pretty well cared for when i got it.

Engine is a 2brl, and it has the hydramatic trans - also ...

We recently purchased our 1959 Catalina off a guy in our town after we got outbid on ebay but the original winner backed out. We took it to a local repair shop to get some things done and had them look it over. New brakes, shocks, some studs on a couple wheels so they matched the other two. The dash lights weren't working but the guy cleaned some connections and they work now. We haven't seen anything like it when we have gone to our area shows. ...

Hello, all -

I ran across this site a little while back and joined up today. I've loved old cars since I was a kid and it just gets worse as I get older. I'm mainly a nut for the 1959 and 1960 Pontiacs, so I should be right at home here... I have amassed a number of project cars I plan to restore in the coming years (minimal restoration work so far, but I just want to keep a few and return the rest to the road as a labor of love.) I work in the bookkeeping / accounting field and the car ...

a 1959 Pontiac Catalina four door post. Hit in the front, laying on the ground for God knows how long, windshield broken, interior cooked, no engine or transmission. Spindles removed to make a trailer. Chrome is pretty good (lots of chrome), dash is good, all glass but the windshield is good. The next best thing to free (and I'm poor)...but is it worth dragging home? I feel drawn to it...it's the Pontiac version of Christine.

To get this forum rolling I'll tell yall my story.

When I was a senior in high school (Class of 2005) I wanted an old car BAD but I had no money. For graduation I got enough money to buy a 1959 Buick Electra for $1,700. The guy I got it from told me there was one identical to it down the road. The seller was selling it real cheap and it had a cracked head. I drove over there and it turned out to be a 1959 Pontiac Star Chief 4 Door HT.

Fast forward about 6 months I was in that part ...
