And this is the battery box idea I had. It's not mounted yet but all the wires are already run. The battery fits perfectly in there

I ordered a whole butt load of parts in the past 2 weeks.

New rear shocks, fuel lines, brake lines, wheel cylinders, all new brake hardware, brake adjusters, master cylinder and slave cylinder for the clutch linkage, air cleaner adapters so reg air cleaners will fit on my old Carter carbs, battery cables to put the battery in the trunk and some more little stuff.

I'm still tryin to figure out if I can make a dual chamber master cylinder work. I haven't had any luck so looks like I'll ...

Sorry if this the wrong section but I need your opinions. I'm looking at a '60 Starchief to buy but I will be selling off some items from it to offset the purchase cost. One item i noticed is the comlete firewall heat/air conditioning system on the car. Looks to be in very good condition but the compressor is missing. Looks like all the compressor mount brackets re there. Present owner has had it for 10 years and says the compressor was alway gone so does not know the condition of the assembly. ...

I'm starting to get pissed off at my car. I don't even like it anymore..I just want it finished.

So I needed to swap the bellhousings because the GMC housing does not have holes for the clutch linkage to bolt to. I don't have a lift so I knew it was going to suck. IT SUCKED! So I swapped them out, put the flywheel back in now the stupid damn pressure plate does not want to fit. It appears to be too big. So I got pissed off and gave up for now.

So...4 speeds were not meant for '59 Pontiacs. ...

Went out to the garage today, hooked the black wire and the purple wire up and got spark. went to the gas station got a few gallons of 93 octane and stuck the fuel line down in there and she started right up!

It doesn't quite want to idle but I saw it was leaking oil BAD from somewhere so I shut her down. It looks like it's dripping onto the starter from somewhere. I couldn't see where.

but it runs!

Damn those open headers sound good!

The steering is all in but not quite aligned yet. I'm going out there tomorrow. Hopefully I will start rewiring the motor (which scares me, I've never really done electrical) or get the clutch linkage sorted out.

I've also decided on "side mount" heads. I'm gunna have to make my own. The exhaust goin under the frame isn't ...

I didn't have an extra hand to put the bumper on so I left that for another day. I should have put that on before the grill but I didn't even think about it. It's all looking good though. As bad as it looked while it was all taken apart, I am glad I took the time to take it all apart and paint everything.

Front suspension is on, tires are on the ground. I also mounted the MSD ignition box. This is exciting...

I also got the headers in. I had to make some 45s to go under the frame. I'm not thrilled with how low they are but there's no other way.

I tried to put the core support on but I couldn't remember how it went. It's been over 2 years.

I did get the upper control arms on and the bottom arms ready to be painted.

Blower motor and heater core duct painted and put back on.

Horn ring installed and looks much better than my broken one.

I hope to get the fenders back on by the end of the month

Well more problems...Headers don't clear the starter. Here are some pics. I'm gunna weld up the Tranny plate tomorrow and paint the inner fenders. Maybe start cleaning up the rest of the suspension and start getting that back together. It's just too damn hot outside. Around 100* and humid isn't the best weather to get frustrated in. But I bet I could write a book of things you can and can't do with 1959 Pontiacs.

Here is where the Auto shift tab would hit the headers.

New shifter, rebuilt carbs

I bought a new shifter and got my carbs back. The carbs look great. New everything including butterflies and the also painted them. I also bought a progressive linkage set up but the rods aren't long enough so it's not very "progressive" but I think it will work OK.

Headers will go back on for test fit #2 in a few days. I'll keep yall posted.

If anyone in the group has an extra working switch I would appreciate a reply.

The replacements from CPR and Ames will not work because they are not

compatible with the original '59 wiring. (I think they are for the '57's)

I finally decided I could not clean the front part of the frame and the firewall anymore so I painted it with POR15. I sprayed it and it was my first spray job. I htink it came out pretty well. If it dries in time today I'm going to test fit the motor and headers. Pictures coming soon.

$145 each. Seems outrageous to me

Since school's out I've been workin 7 days a week to make money to fix up my car. I took this week off to work on it and here is my progress.

My dad's friend runs a metal shop in San Antone and he's been saying he's going to make me floor pan patch panels since Nov. He finally made them and what do you know, THE BEADS DON'T LINE UP. So with some cutting and welding they came out alright.

I finished both pans, and scraped all the junk and dirt off the floor and painted the entire floor ...

Got my $5.00 ebay seat cover last Friday and got everything intalled this weekend. Original '59 seat cover + lots of sewing by someone with no sewing experience (me) = surprisingly not too shabby. Originally both seats were covered by sheets and seat covers....

My original plans were to just get this car back on the road. The previous owner overheated the car and got it "completely rebuilt" and said it was ready to go once I found another good head since he cracked one of the heads. Since the motor was half taken apart I noticed that it had only one new piston and a new cam and that was it as far as new stuff. I got it completely rebuilt with performance parts.

While the motor was out I started rebuilding the front end. I have most of the parts ...
